To the Right Honourable Secretary of State for the Colonies,
I beg to state that, during my service in the Army, I was employed on the Staff for several years, both at home and in India, including the command of a large Depôt Battalion; served with the Army in the field during the Sepoy War; was frequently mentioned in Despatches; and rewarded for my services with the rank of Lieut.-Colonel and the Companionship of the Bath.
I am a Graduate of the Dublin University, and a Magistrate for the County Kilkenny.
Annexed are copies of Testimonials in my possession.
